Of every 911 generation, the 992 Carrera 4S is the one we would choose, and this one in Carrara White is kept the way Porsche intended. It runs a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six making 443 hp through the eight-speed PDK, drives all four wheels, and reaches 100 km/h in about 3.6 seconds. Porsche Traction Management only sends drive to the front axle when the rear asks for it, so on a dry road it still feels like a rear-engined 911, and Wet Mode, standard on the 992, listens for spray in the wheel arches and settles the car when a four o'clock storm comes through. It averages around 10.7 L/100 km, and the front seats are ventilated, which in our climate matters more than the horsepower.
Singapore is not a place for top speed, so this is a car for early mornings. Our favourite loop leaves Holland Village at first light, climbs Mount Faber, drops past Keppel Bay to coffee at Sentosa Cove, then follows the ECP east with the sea on your right and runs out along Changi Coast Road before the cyclists arrive. Mandai Road and the lanes around the Kranji farms are the other good drive on the island: slower, greener and lovely with the windows down. If you want a proper road, choose Malaysia travel at checkout and take the Second Link to Desaru for a weekend; the Senai–Desaru Expressway is quiet on a Saturday morning, and we'll send you our stops. The front boot takes a cabin bag and a soft weekend bag, and the rear seats fold for more.
We bring it to your door anywhere on the island, Changi Airport included, detailed and with a full tank of 98. At the handover the driver walks round the car with you, photographs it, and spends five minutes on the drive modes, the PDK and where the front boot release lives. ERP, the Sentosa entry charge and carpark fees come off the car's OBU and are billed at cost after the trip, itemised on your receipt. When the trip ends, we collect it from wherever suits you.
